Some outpatient drug addiction treatment can offer the intensive therapies discussed above if the addicts’ conditions require them. Others are not much more than substance abuse awareness programs. In addition to the drug-free ones mentioned, many treatments employ methadone or sedatives to take the edge off the withdrawal process.
